Czech canoeists gained the control of the World Cup

VIDEO  The first day in the canoe slalom World Cup Troja ended up being extraordinarily succesful for Czech canoeists – each one of them is going to participate in the semifinals in every single category. Except for canoe double, Czech paddlers always gave the lead to the qualification – Vavřinec Hradílek and Irena Pavlíková in kayak competition, and Kateřina Hošková and Stanislav Ježek in single canoes.

Vavřinec Hradílek won the gold medal, Kauzer won the World Cup serie

Men kayak turned out to be a continuation of the struggle between Vavřinec Hradílek (CZE) and the current world champion Daniele Molmenti (ITA). However, the Italian kayaker, who started as the last one thanks to his victory in the semifinal, wasn't able to overcome Hradílek's time (88.60) in the dramatic ending. Nonetheless, the difference was a mere 5 hundreths of a second. Thus, Vavřinec Hradílek will be given the gold medal, and Molmenti the silver one.

The bronze medal will belong to one of the best current kayakers Peter Kauzer (SLO), whose time 90.02 was good enough not only for the third place but even for the victory in the whole World Cup serie. The Czech kayaker Luboš Hilgert ended up on the fourth place with a time 90.19.

Best K1M heates by Hradílek, Hilgert, and Kauzer

Similarly to women qualification, the best time from the first round remained unexceeded. Thus, the first place belongs to Vavřinec Hradílek. He himself cooled down and let spectators enjoy his race. However, Luboš Hilgert improved his time and got himself onto the second place with a time 84.70. Peter Kauzer also showed he's in form here by improving his time to 84.91. Due to this time, Czech kayaker Jiří Prskavec had been shelved onto the fourth position (time 85.24).
