ECA Press Release: Organisers of the 2020 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships in Prague 2020 are working tirelessly to prepare the best possible championships in the current situation and to provide a safe environment for all participants of this biggest canoe slalom sporting event of the year. Athletes from 20 countries are expected to start in Czech Republic and the championships will be closed for the general public.
Also this year, the organisers of the upcoming ECA European canoe slalom championships 2020 have included the Paddleride for the public and sports fans on Sunday 13th September, as usual Prague city centre boat ride. One of the main organisers is again the actual European champion in K1 Vit Prindis, who will defend his title in a week in Prague at the upcoming championships.
The international canoe slalom peak of the season for many competitors will be the European canoe slalom championships in Prague, which will host the event already after two years. Originally cancelled championships in London last spring is going to be replaced on Troja artificial slalom course on 18 – 20 September 2020. The complete Czech team will face the top competitors from all over Europe.
In less than three weeks, Prague will host the next major sports event again. In the period of 18 to 20 September 2020, the artificial canoe slalom course in Prague – Troja will host the best paddlers of Europe who want to clash for the continental titles this year. The event will be organised under the strict sanitation rules according to the recent conditions stated by the Government of the Czech Republic.
Official ECA Press Release: ECA's Board of Directors confirmed the 2020 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships in Prague. The Championships is scheduled for 18 - 20 September 2020.
It seemed that the actual coronavirus situation would not allow the canoe slalom events to distribute the major medals this year. However, after the successful meeting of the ECA and the Prague organisers it was agreed that the cancelled European canoe slalom championships moves from London to Prague – Troja. It will happen on 18 – 20 September 2020 instead of the planned ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup.

Right after the start, she was fourth. She knew she needed to stay calm and paddled towards her chance to dominate. Once Veronika Vojtová sought it at the top of the course, she used it. The moment was worthy of a gold medal. Czech kayaker became a new World Champion in Extreme Slalom.
'I would bet the gold medal will stay home,' said current European Champion Vít Přindiš while smiling at his team mate Jiří Prskavec before the World Cup series final. He was not wrong! Straight line, short turnes, no touches – that was a flawless run of Prskavec. Czech kayaker won a final and ruled overall World Cup series. Right behind the finish line he put his hands up on the head, created a shape of half rounds as monkeys do and celebrated.
He thought he touched a gate on the top of the course. He thought he had to speed up. In the end, there were no penalties and he performed the fastest run of the semifinal. Italian kayaker Giovanni de Gennaro defeated Czech athlete Jiří Prskavec by 0.03 s. Third finished Boris Neveu from France.
The leader of the semifinal became canoeist Kimberley Woods. Even with two touches she performed incredibly fast run. Second finished Jessica Fox who won yesterday´s K1 final. Third was the bronze medalist from World Championships U23 Ana Satila.
