kajakKross Sipla mPrague, a city with a rich history and a passion for sports, will once again become the epicenter of world canoe slalom in a month's time. The ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup in canoe slalom returns to the capital city for the twentieth time, precisely to the canoeing area in Troja, where one of the biggest sporting events of the year will take place. From Thursday to Sunday, June 6th to 9th, 2024, a wild battle for triumph among the greatest stars of this exciting sport will unfold on the artificial slalom course, heralding the upcoming Olympic duels in Paris.

The Canoe Slalom World Cup will be the second in a series of five events in the International Canoe Federation World Cup, starting in Augsburg and culminating in September in Seu, Spain. The Prague event is not just an opportunity for fans to witness the world-class sports, but also a chance to meet their favorite athletes and immerse themselves in the competitive atmosphere. This prestigious sporting event is financially supported by the leading partner, the ČEZ Group, the main partner, UNIQA Insurance, the National Sports Agency, the City of Prague, and a number of other partners. Without the support of fans and the help of loyal partners, this sporting celebration would not shine as brightly.

During the World Cup in Prague – Troja, Olympic qualification in kayak cross will take place, where the top three countries will earn additional spots in both the women's and men's categories. Jiří Rohan, director of the organizing committee in Prague – Troja, is looking forward to all the fans and promises an exciting spectacle.

"As Olympic nominations for the Paris Games are nearing, we know that the competitions in Troja have an indescribable atmosphere. We saw it also at the recent ČEZ Group Czech Cup in Troja, where many fans attended. Now, the biggest stars from around the world will compete, adding even more excitement to the competition. I believe that every sports enthusiast will find their way to Troja, regardless of the weather," Rohan wishes.

Atmosphere akin to the Olympic rings and Hradilek's farewell

The organizers of the World Cup expect to see the complete world elite in Troja. A fan zone will be set up for spectators, where even the youngest can enjoy themselves and refreshments. An exhibition race by kayaking legend Vavřinec Hradilek is planned for Saturday evening, organized as his farewell to his sporting career. This will be followed by a farewell party.

"At a time when the upcoming Olympics will be on everyone's lips in the media, the Canoe Slalom World Cup will offer an electrifying atmosphere even for those who, for many reasons, will not be able to travel to the French capital. From my own experience, I know that the atmosphere on the Troja track and at the Olympic Games is very comparable, and perhaps sometimes even more interesting. I'm looking forward to Troja as much as I was to the Olympics," says Stanislav Ježek, chairman of the Czech Canoe Federation and a two-time canoe Olympian.

There are no doubts that athletes enjoy competing in Prague – Troja. Among the biggest stars for years has been the golden Olympic kayaker and, more recently, canoeist Jiří Prskavec. "It's incredibly beautiful to win in front of such great fans here at home, where I grew up. That never gets old," Prskavec appreciates.
