Who Will Make the Team? Czech Canoe Slalom Nominations Reach Their Climax in Troja
This coming weekend, on May 16–17, 2026, the final selection of the Czech national canoe slalom team for the upcoming season will be decided in Prague’s Troja venue. The second nomination weekend promises dramatic races and battles for every single gate.
Kayakers: Prskavec and Krejčí Already Secured
In the men’s K1 category, Jiří Prskavec and Jakub Krejčí have already secured their spots on the national team thanks to medals won at last year’s World Championships. That leaves one remaining place still up for grabs.
Krejčí has so far confirmed his excellent form - he dominated the opening two races of the ČEZ Group Czech Cup and is currently leading the domestic selection standings convincingly. After the first races, the fight for the final spot is tied between the experienced Vít Přindiš and the talented Matyáš Novák, both with 19 points.
The situation among the canoeists is even tighter. In the highly competitive men’s C1 category, Václav Chaloupka leads after two races with 16 points, closely followed by Lukáš Kratochvíl (15 points) and Adam Král (13 points). The margins are extremely small, and virtually the entire Czech elite remains in contention for the national team. Experienced Olympian Lukáš Rohan should not be overlooked either.
Open Battle Among the Women
Nothing has been decided yet in the women’s categories. Martina Satková is competing in an extensive program, racing in both kayak and canoe disciplines. Tereza Kneblová, like Vít Přindiš, has already secured qualification for kayak cross and is now also focusing on the traditional slalom events. In the women’s C1 category, Kneblová currently sits at the top. Thanks to a first and second place finish in the opening races, she leads with 19 points ahead of Martina Satková (18) and Tereza Michalová (16).
Among the women’s kayakers, Amálie Hilgertová currently leads the standings ahead of junior paddler Barbora Ondráčková and Lucie Nesnídalová.
Troja Will Decide
The second nomination weekend in Troja promises exactly what canoe slalom fans love most - thrilling battles right up to the final gate. The fight for places on the national team will quite literally come down to the very last run.
