The Czech team for the 2024 season is complete

Kvalifikace 2024, Praha, Troja, Česká republika (Foto Martin Hladik)Sunday's race (28 April)  in Prague's Troja concluded the national selection for the national team in canoe slalom. Kayaker Kateřina Beková will experience her debut in the elite team. The participation in the Olympic Games will be decided by the European Championships in Tacen, Slovenia. At the moment, the only certainty of participation in the Summer Olympic Games is held by Jiří Prskavec in the K1M category. With banks filled with fans, sunny weather, nervousness at the start, and joy at the finish line, the fourth race of the ČEZ Group Canoe Slalom Czech Cup is now history. The results determined the complete composition of the national team, extending the battle for the Olympic Games to the European Championship in Tacen for nine Czech boats.

In the category of single canoeists, Tereza Kneblová dominated the track on Sunday, experiencing her debut in the team last year. With a two-second lead, she triumphed over silver medalist Eva Říhová and bronze medalist Gabriela Satková.

"In the finish, I felt more relief than great joy. I managed to ride a good run in the last race, and that's the nicest feeling you can have after finishing. No run is perfect, but this one came close. I nailed some crucial combinations, which I'm really glad about," commented the winner of the C1 women's category.

"I've always wanted to be on the team with Martina and Gabča. This year it worked out, and I'm already looking forward to all the international events. At the European Championships, we will see the trio Satková - Kneblová - Satková. The girls raced great all the time. It was nice to measure ourselves with them in every race and lead that mutual battle from the beginning to the nomination," praised Kneblová for this year's races.

"The final run was fast, but before entering the channel, the water level dropped, and it was clear that the final times would be faster. I was satisfied at the finish, but everyone else was still at the start, so the wait was really long!" says Prskavec.

Within the 4th Czech Cup of the ČEZ Group, the composition of the senior national team was decided, as well as the composition of the U23 national team.

The next race is the European Championships in Tacen, which will decide the quartet of Olympic representatives. The race in Prague's Troja took place with the financial support of the City of Prague.
