The biggest Czech stars of the upcoming European Championships will fight for medals in category K1. Two guaranteed spots have Ondřej Tunka and Vít Přindiš, the last spot took triple European champion and Olympic medallist Jiří Prskavec. Who will win in Troja? European Championship can be opened by various ways. The opening ceremony of the European Canoe Slalom Championships in Prague surely belongs to the most successful in history. It was situated in the centre of the capital city, in Hybernia Theatre. The long-lasting applause at the end of the hourly show was the best proof of the fact that the screenwriters and participants of the performance did an amazing job.
Last year in Pau, he won unexpectedly the world champion title. Just this fact makes Ondrej Tunka one of the strongest adepts for the European gold in Prague this weekend.
Tuesday afternoon before the championships in Prague was traditionally dedicated to CEZ Prague Riverside Cross 2018. On Náplavka, we could have seen not only the athletes starting at the ECA European Championships but also Czech celebrities. The best of the bests was the cross country skier Lukáš Bauer.
The competition in this special event – biathlon joined together with canoe slalom was again under auspices of silver Olympic kayaker Vavřinec Hradilek.
Like each major canoe slalom event in Prague, Paddleride 2018 opened the full week of the canoe slalom events before the ECA European Championships (1 – 3 June). On Monday 28 May, there were 75 participants bringing their boats and paddleboards to join this unique experience on the water.

The ECA European Canoe Slalom Championships in Prague start in a week (1-3 June) but the first events of the accompanying program are scheduled already on Monday 28 May. There will be the traditional Paddleride through the historical centre of Prague, Riverside Cross, opening ceremony in Hybernia Theatre or the welcome banquet in the residence of the City Mayor of Prague. The championships will see 207 boats from 27 countries.

The fourth CEZ Czech Cup in Prague on 13 May closed the Czech selection races for the season 2018. At the same time, the Czech titles have been distributed. Vavřinec Hradilek got a revenge for his unsuccessful selection races as he gains the title in men´s kayak beating Prskavec and the rest of the field.
Only one month before the ECA European Canoe Slalom Championships in Prague – Troja starts (1-3 June), the Czech paddlers expect one of the most crucial competition this weekend. The canoe slalom course on Trnávka in Zeliv welcomes the first two races of the CEZ Czech Cup 2018, which also is the Czech selection to the national team. On 5 and 6 may, we can see the real “Czech power on the water” especially in the men´s kayak with Vavrinec Hradilek, Vit Prindis, Jiri prskavec or the reigning world champion Ondrej Tunka.
